PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Caroline Treis and Brooke
Skemp, Brookfield Central. The two paired up to
go 4-0 Saturday in leading the Lancers to first place in their own six-team
invitational. They also each won two singles matches earlier in the week. Last
year, Skemp advanced to the third round of state
doubles with a different partner.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Milwaukee
Riverside. The Tigers easily won the City
Conference round-robin doubles tournament Saturday as they finished 49 points
ahead of Milwaukee Madison. Vanali Phanthavong and Monique Ingram took first at No. 1 doubles,
and Oceana Henderson and Miracle Hoskin-Northcutt did
the same at No. 2. At No. 3, Sarafina Teat and Jamie
Johnson finished first, as did Brittney Burroughs and Ashley Brown at No. 6.
HARTFORD WINS ITS HALF: The Hartford-Oconomowoc Invitational was held Saturday, and
the Orioles were hardly tested in going 3-0 at their own school.
Hartford beat Madison East and
Muskego by scores of 7-0, and also added a 6-1 victory over Elkhorn. The
Orioles' No. 1 doubles team of juniors Hannah Kranz
and Alaina Schaefer was undefeated, including 6-0,
6-0 victories against the Elks and Madison East.
Franklin was 3-0 at Oconomowoc after
beating Janesville Craig, 7-0, Neenah, 4-3, and Oconomowoc, 5-2.
