Campbellsport 52 New Holstein 43

CAMPBELLSPORT — The Campbellsport High School girls basketball team jumped out to a lead and slowly extended it in a win against New Holstein in Eastern Wisconsin Conference play.

Sami Soyk tied for the game high with 13 points and Brianna Halfmann added 11 for the Cougars (2-3, 1-1), who had balanced scoring and a decided 15-2 free-throws made disparity.

"The girls definitely turned a corner tonight," Campbellsport coach Amy Owens said. "They've been working hard and it paid off tonight."

New Holstein (0-3, 0-2) hit three 3-pointer, in a fourth-quarter comeback attempt after trailing 15-7 at the end of one quarter and 36-24 at the end of three. The Huskies' Amelia Mirsberger matched Soyk with 13 points and Heather Klapperich finished with 12.

Owens said the defense sparked the early Campbellsport lead.
