TWO RIVERS – Waupun’s fourth-quarter rally fell short at Two Rivers Friday as the Purple Raiders hung on for a 58-53 Eastern Wisconsin girls basketball victory.

Trailing 45-32 after three quarters, Waupun (9-5, 5-4 EWC) clawed within a basket. However, Bailey Payette’s 3-pointer inside the final minute sealed the victory for Two Rivers (8-8, 5-4).

“I hope that we can build on this for the final stretch of the season,” Waupun coach Doug Disch said.

Katie Hansen led Waupun with 19 points. Morgan Domask added 14 points and Makayla Hopp chipped in 10.

Becca Diedrich paced Two Rivers with 25 points. Danica Guehlstorf added 12 points in the victory.

Waupun hosts Campbellsport on Tuesday.
