Nobody had an answer for DeForest, but Fondy's win against Campbellsport gave the Cardinals second place at the first Campbellsport Duals.

Fondy fell to DeForest, 42-28, for its only loss of the day.

"DeForest just ripped everybody," Campbellpsort coach Mark Peterson said. "They're solid; they have a lot of upperclassmen. They've really been coming on."

Fondy topped Campbellsport, 40-26, in the final match of the meet, rekindling an old rivalry and keeping Peterson, a former Fondy wrestler, one win short of 200.

The Cougars beat Ripon, Brown Deer and Grafton.

"The boys were eager to get me the 200th career win," Peterson said. "It would have been cool. Ironically, I'm from Fond du Lac so it would have been cool to get it against them, but we'll get 'er Thursday against Kiel."

"It came down to the last few matches," Fondy coach Joe Rens said of the dual with Campbellsport. "It was an exciting match."

Four wrestlers went 5-0 for Fondy: Chris Eckman (135 pounds), Luke Roffers (160), Justin Birschbach (171) and Nick Gurrath (215),

Ryan Costello at 103 and Zach Wetzel at 189 went 5-0 for the Cougars, who were 3-2 as a team. Parker Peterson (112), Rashaun Sparks (130), Payden Salm (152) and Eric Gonwa (285) went 4-1 on the day.

Ripon went 2-3 with no unbeaten wrestlers, although Connor Hanson won his 100th career match at the tournament.
