Oshkosh West won the final four weight classes to knock off Berlin, 49-24, in the third-place match at the Oshkosh West Dual Tournament on Saturday.
The Wildcats led just 28-24 after
forfeiting at heavyweight, but got a pin in overtime from Frank Frassetto at 103 pounds, followed by Logan Scheel’s win at 112 pounds. After a forfeit win at 119
pounds, Cameron Kleven capped the win with a pin at
125 pounds.
Both Scheel
and Kleven finished with 5-0 records on the day for
the Wildcats, as did Jeremy Schumann at 152/160 pounds. Four of Scheel’s wins came by pin.
Brad Clark also had four pins at 215 pounds, finishing 4-1 on the day for West.
Luke Lubenow (140) and Josh Barnett (145) also were
4-1.
Berlin also went 2-1 in its pool with
wins over Milwaukee King (42-29) and Wild Rose (52-15). The Indians lost to
Sauk Prairie (63-14) in pool play and fell to Clintonville (55-23) in the
semifinals.
Brady Gaab (135)
was the lone wrestler to post a 5-0 mark for Berlin, collecting three pins.
Josh Ferron (189/215) was 4-1 with three pins.
West went 2-1 in its pool, beating Waupun (55-21) and Manawa (60-18), while
losing to Clintonville (38-31). The Wildcats then lost to Sauk Prairie (43-27)
in the semifinals.
